About Me

I have done ceramics for 8 years now and every project reminds me of why I do it. It is meditative as well as creative, when I get into the studio my brain shuts out the rest of the world and I use my hands to create. Not every project has come out how I’ve wanted it to but that's part of the process. I try to learn something new from every project because failures are only failures if you don't learn from them. My goal in ceramics is to create something that moves people, a project that makes people feel something. I have not been able to do that however, I have another year of ceramics to achieve that.

Most of my work is freestyle. I brainstorm through a process of getting reference photos and sketching but all of that is to get a vague idea of what I want to do. However I like to see what I am feeling when I create and most of the time that is not what I sketched out. Coincidences and luck make up a large proportion of what I have created and what I will create. Going with the flow and against conformity is how I like to express my art.
